Abstract :
The era of globalization encourages society to continue to develop technology that not only makes things easier, but even replaces the role of humans, especially in the financial sector. The growth of payment system technology is currently accompanied by a surge in the number of payment instruments. The use of modern technology is increasingly widespread for non-cash payments, both domestically and abroad. This growth is also accompanied by a number of innovations that make payment technology more effective, safe, fast and comfortable. This trend reflects society's adaptation to changes in the digital environment. The aim of this research is to find out how the implementation has been carried out by Bank Indonesia, Riau Islands Province, in payment system cooperation in the ASEAN region. The method used in this research is a qualitative description approach, which focuses on findings and their significance while describing, analyzing and investigating research subjects using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research found that Bank Indonesia, through its vision, carries out regional cooperation between ASEAN countries by signing an MoU document related to the cross-border payment system, namely the Quick Response Indonesia Standard (QRIS) Cross Border which uses local currency to facilitate the payment process. In the Riau Islands region, the implementation of this cross-border payment system is already underway and is being developed effectively.
