Abstract :
The objective of this study was to create an electronic module for instructing 8th-grade students at
SMPN 1 Tanjungpinang in composing recount texts. The creation of this e-module was motivated by
the necessity to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of the writing instruction process at the school.
This research employed a 4D model derived by Thiagarajan, which encompassed the stages of
Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate in its research and development process. Nevertheless,
this research was confined to the 3D phase (Define, Design, Develop). The e-module was furnished
with a range of interactive tasks designed to augment students' motivation and proficiency in writing.
The validity test consisted of two types of validators: material validators and media validators. The
results of the material validation and media validation indicated that the product achieved a
validation rate of 98% and 97% respectively, demonstrating a high level of validity in both the content
material and design. Based on the data, it can be inferred that this e-module has considerable
potential for being implemented in teaching writing in junior high schools. This e-module is expected
to provide as a solution for addressing concerns in teaching recount text writing and enhancing the
quality of English language instruction at SMPN 1 Tanjungpinang.
