Abstract :
This study aims to identify the types of errors in time expression sentences written by students andthe most common errors they make. The research method employed mixed methods, using tests and interviews to collect data. The participants were 30 seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Lingga. Dulay theory was used to analyze and gather data. The results of the study showed that the most frequent errors were writing errors, with the percentage of 50% of the total errors. Omission errors with the percentage of 28%, addition errors for 15%, and misordering errors for 5%. It could be concluded that many students still needed to improve their writing skills in expressing time in English. The errors were attributed to students' need for more knowledge about time expressions in English and the differences in the rules of writing time expressions between Indonesian and English.
