Abstract :
This research aims to analyze the quality of speaking activities in the English textbook ?English for Change? for Eleventh-grade Senior High School based on the criteria of good speaking activities suggested by Thornbury Scott and Meliawati. The subject of this research is the whole content of English textbook ?English for Change? for Eleventh grade Senior High School especially speaking activities. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative research by using content analysis method. The data were taken and collected from pdf book. The instruments in this research were observation checklist and interview. The checklist was adapted from criteria of good speaking activities proposed by Thornburry Scoott and Meliawati. This textbook fulfilment score of Clear Instruction (80%), the communicative activities (86,6%), engaging and challenging activities (90%), analytical tasks (70%), and in accordance with the learning outcomes in Kurikulum Merdeka (80%). %. In general the quality of content in the speaking activities was categorized as ?Good? based on the guidelines established by Pusat Perbukuan, obtaining an average percentage from five criteria of 81,32%.
