Abstract :
This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of using YouTube on
the listening skills of 7th grade students of SMPN 4 Bintan. In addition, this study
also aims to show whether students who are taught using YouTube are better than
classes taught using powerpoint in listening skills of 7th grade students of SMPN 4
Bintan. This study involved 54 students at SMPN 4 Bintan. The research method
used was quasi-experimental with pre test and post test groups. This study used 2
classes, namely class 7A with 27 students as the experimental class and class 7B with
27 students as the control class. In collecting data, researchers used listening tests. To
analyze the data, the researcher used an independent sample t-test through SPSS
version 29. The results of this study indicate that students taught using yotube are
better than students taught using powerpoint for 7th grade students of SMPN 4
Bintan. This can be seen from the results of the study, namely the significance value
of 0.004 <0.05, which means that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. It can be
concluded that students who are taught using YouTube are better than classes that use
powerpoint.
