Abstract :
This study aims to determine whether or not there is an impact of the use of icon images in Mobile Legends Bang-Bang (MLBB) on the speaking ability of class IX students of SMP Negeri 7 Tanjungpinang in the 2024/2025 school year. The researcher chose class IX.9 as the sample and totaled 44 students as the object of research. Researchers used quantitative methods to find out the answers to research problems. This research design used an experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test design and provides treatment 3 times. This study used a speaking test as an instrument to collect data. The results of the data analysis showed that the null hypothesis (H0) and alternative hypothesis 2 (H2) were rejected, and alternative hypothesis 1 (H1) was accepted. This can be seen from the data calculated using the paired sample t-test formula on the pre-test significant was 0.005 and Post-test was 0.065 and normally distributed because > 0.005 while the value of Sig. 2 tailed of 0.000 which means there is an impact of using icon images in Mobile Legends Bang-Bang (MLBB) on speaking skills in class IX students of SMP Negeri 7 Tanjungpinang because the Sig value. 2 tailed 0.000 < 0.005. Based on these findings, the researcher suggests teachers use icon images in Mobile Legends Bang-Bang (MLBB) to teach speaking because this material influences students' speaking skills.
