Abstract :
This study aims to determine whether there is the effect of English film subtitles towards students' listening skills through an experiment conducted at SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan. In addition, the study seeks to show whether students taught using film subtitles perform better compared to those who are not, specifically among the students of SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan. The research method used is a pre-experimental
class design. This study involved one class, consisting of 25 students in the 10th grade. A pre-test and post-test were conducted within this class. Data collection was carried out using a listening test, and data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test through SPSS version 25. The results of this study indicate that the effect of English film subtitles can improve the listening skills of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan. This is evident from the study results, which show a significant value of 0.000 < 0.03, meaning that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. So that English film subtitles gave an effect the listening skills of 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Bintan.
