Abstract :
Protest or demonstration is one of the tools in democracy system, it is the tool for people to express their opinion and disagreement towards the government. One of the clear characteristics in democracy points out the people element in the system. In history, prolonged protests would be sign on countries, going through a process of democratization, it is a sign of people power rising through repression from the respective government that never allowed the people to have voice on their own. This thesis will discuss and research on prolonged protest, protest which lasted months or years and triggered the wave of democratization and the impact towards democracy by using comparative study with the analysis of two countries that had experiences prolonged protest which are Indonesia and the Philippines. The purpose on comparing both countries would be to gain an understanding on how much impacts prolonged protest and how it has impacted the positions and development of democracy system in both countries. This research is a worldwide study in politics and international relations.
