Abstract :
This research aim to determine whether there is a correlation
between students? listening habits to English songs and their listening
comprehension. It was conducted at the SMA Pusri Palembang class
XI.IPA grade 1. The population of this research involved all the
second grade students at SMA Pusri Palembang in academic year
2020/2021, which consists of 120 students of five classes. The sample
was 31 students taken by using non-probability sampling with
purposive sampling technique. This research used correlation method
with a quantitative approach. The instruments in collecting the data
were questionnaire and test. The questionnaire was used to collect the
data of students? habit in listening to English songs, while the test
were used to collect the data of students? listening comprehension. In
analyzing the data the researcher were calculated and analyzed by
using SPSS of Product Moment Correlation formula. The result
showed that there was a low correlation between two variables, with
index value of correlation coefficient (rxy) was 0,330. Furthermore, the
hypothesis testing showed that rxy 0,330 < rtable 0.367. In conclusion,
there is no significant correlation between listening habit to English
song and listening comprehension skill of the XI.IPA grade 1 at SMA
Pusri Palembang.
