Abstract :
The regulatory framework of many countries allows the revaluation of assets. In measurement of fixed asset, the entity have two option of valuation fixed asset after initial recognition. There is cost model and revaluation model.This study extends the previous research conducted in country which have common law characteristic. By focusing in Indonesia firms, especially manufacture industry as sample, this research is to show the influence of revaluation fixed asset on future performance measured by future operating income andoperating cash flow manufacture firms and current performance measured by market assessment.The result of this paper is revaluations of fixed assets by manufacturefirms negativelyrelated to changes in future performancebut not significant, measured by operating incomeand operating cash flow. This findings is supported by previous literature, Zhai (2007) also found negative relation.Revaluations are also negative significantlyrelated to stock prices, it showed that market respons regard the information of revaluation to be the reason of earnings volatile.Overall, the findings suggest that the influence of revaluation fixed asset cannot separated with economic and market condition in a country.Keywords: fixedasset revaluation, operating income, operating cash flow, stock price, firms performance.
