Abstract :
Manufacturing industry is a major contributor for the economic of Indonesia. In this industry there are a variety of ownership. This research was aimed the effect of ownership structure and independent commissioner?s monitoring to agency cost.The sample of this study are listed companies in manufacturing industry in Indonesia Stock Exchange for the year of 2009-2012. This study uses purposive sampling method to select sample from the population. Independent variables that used on this study are family ownership, institutional ownership, foreign ownership, and independent commissioner?s monitoring. Proxy of agency cost as the dependent variable are asset turnover ratio and SG&A expense to sales ratio. The analysis model of this study uses multiple linear regression analysis.The results were as follows : (1) family ownership significantly affect the agency cost ; (2) institutional ownership significantly affect the agency cost ; (3) foreign ownership does not significantly affect the agency cost ; (4) independent commissioner?s monitoring does not significantly affect the agency cost.
