ABSTRACT
This thesis is a description of the research-based performance on the line of
sindhènan in the structure of gending mrabot consisting of Jineman ÉmanÉman,
Laras Téja gendhing Kethuk 2 kerep Minggah 4, Ladrang Arga
Lagu and Ayak-ayak Jalumampang. As for the main problems are presented in
this paper are: 1) How is the sindhènan in each form of the gending? 2) How the
placement of wangsalan and abon-abon in the gending? Based on the issues
are raised, some concepts such as concepts of sindhènan, the concept of pathet
and the concept of the garap are also used as an analysis tools to answer the main
problems and find out the result.
The method of this work begins with making a work of art, determining
the type of data and searching for data sources. The collecting of data techniques
carried out by literature study, observation and interview. The result of this data
collection will be analyzed and presented as the report of the study.
The result in this paper in detail include: 1) working on pathet, 2)
working on wangsalan and abon-abon, 3) working angkat sèlèh and 4) and the
variations of the series on the gending of mrabot are analyzed. Generally,
sindhènan in the Surakarta karawitan style is one of the important factors to
form the integrity of the impression of the musical taste and the character of the
gending which is presented. The sense of musical taste and character is closely
related with the selection of céngkok and wiledan that corresponds to the
character of the gending which is presented.
