Mangkunegaran although basically from the Yogyakarta style bedhaya dance
but has a significant difference. The thesis entitled ?Gaya Penyajian Tari

beginnings of the existence of the Yogyakarta style Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun
dance in Mangku-negaran and analyze the presentation style of it. The historical
study of the Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun dance is useful to find out the chronology
and its causes. Presentation style analysis is used to describe the presentation
techniques and characteristics, as well as understanding the formation factors of
the style.
This study uses ethnochoreology approach with arshival research method.
The arshival research method was chosen because it is a from of historical research
that aims to describe the factors of the existence and development of the style of
presentation of the Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun dance in Mangkunegaran. Data
sources used are archives or documents in the form of narration or text, photos,
videos, and audio recordings made from several points in the past. The arshival
research method is supported by interview studies to explore the record keeping of
dance artists in Mangkunegaran.
The results showed that the existence of the Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun
dance in Mangkunegaran was influenced by socio-political factors. The cultural
interaction of marriage politics between the Pura Mangkunegaran and the
Kraton Kasultanan Yogyakarta led to the absorption of the Yogyakarta style
dance in Mangkunegaran. This absorption was used by Empress Mangkunegara
VII to emphasize the position of her only daughter through her ability to
dance bedhaya and srimpi. The Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun dance is one of the
dance works which was successfully absorbed by Gusti Timur?s only daughter
through the learning system at KBW. The formation of the style of presentation of
the Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun dance in Mangkunegaran takes place in a
process not an event. Presentation style is formed because of a problem from the
inheritance system, so that it experiences significant changes. Problems come from
social, political, cultural, and economic conditions. The response to these problems
led to the formation of the Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun dance characteristics,
although not all of the responses were positive.
