Abstract :
Aluminum and zinc in the ship industry are often used as sacrificial anodes to protect the ship's body from corrosion or also known as ship anti-rust. Used ship anodes with aluminum and zinc types can be recycled by re-melting them to become new sacrificial anode products that will get more selling value. In this research, the used anodes are melted down and molded using the open mold sand casting method by making sand molds. The results of the waste anode recast that combines zinc anode waste with aluminum anode waste and will analyze the comparison of anode capacity values and the potential value of the recast results. The results of the past casting that have been carried out will be tested for chemical composition, after that linear polarization, and further test the anode capacity. The addition of zinc anode waste did not significantly increase the Zn composition of the aluminum anode recast product and significantly increased the Al element in the product. 5% Aluminum actually contains 5.74% Zn and 92.4% Al elements, and 50% aluminum has 11.86% Zn with 85.6% Al content. after that the addition of zinc anode waste did not increase significantly where the sample of 62.5%Al had the highest value of 1812.639 Ah/kg while 100%Al had a value of 1170.708 Ah/kg. Furthermore, according to DNVGL RP B401, the sample 82.5% Al, 75% Al, 62.5% Al, 50% Al has an electrochemical capacity value to enter the specified anode product criteria, because it has a capacity value in the range of 1500-1800(Ah/kg ) while 100% Al waste has a value below that is 1170.708 Ah/kg.
