Abstract :
DIRECTIONS FOR IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF DRAINAGE CHANNELS IN THE BARITO ROAD CORRIDOR SIMPANG TIGA VILLAGE SAMARINDA CITY Name : Trisna Adji Setyawan NIM : 08181080 Supervisor : Rahmi Yorika, S.Si., M.Sc ABSTRACT Simpang Tiga Urban Village in the Samarinda City Regional Spatial Planning Document is listed as a flood-prone area. One of the flood control instruments is the management of an integrated drainage system. Government programs in dealing with flood problems have not been able to optimally overcome these problems, so there is a need for a review from a technical and non-technical perspective of drainage performance, while from the findings obtained a program that is able to be developed as a direction for solving flood problems is needed, by determining 3 targets to achieve objective, target 1 is to analyze the technical performance of the drainage canal, target 2 is to analyze the social factors that affect the performance of the drainage canal, and target 3 is to make a formulation regarding the recommended directions for improving the performance of the drainage canal. As for the analytical method for target 1, namely analyzing hydrological aspects and hydraulic aspects, then the values of the two are compared to get a value for the technical ability of the drainage channel, then for target 2, a qualitative descriptive analysis is carried out based on the results of community questionnaires where researchers try to obtain finding data from the results of the questionnaire responses which are then can be taken into consideration for preparing directives, and for target 3 it is carried out using the triangulation method in which 3 aspects of directive preparation are compared, namely the findings of target 1, the findings of target 2, and programs and policies that regulate the drainage system, which are then from the results of the discussion of the three aspects, directions were obtained for improving the performance of drainage channels. After the results of target 1, target 2 and target 3 are known, it can be concluded that the drainage capacity at the study site is unable to accommodate and channel the existing water runoff plus the influence of social aspects which indirectly have a role in decreasing the drainage function so that there is a need for direction in determining the program and regulations to improve the performance of drainage channels in responding to flooding problems that occur in the Barito Road Area, Simpang Tiga Village, Samarinda City.
