Abstract :
Each welding process must comply with the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) as a reference in welding work. On non-destructive testing or NDT using radiographic test methods. This test was carried out to find out how the relationship between the heat input and the type of weld defect found and the radiographic test results on the API 5L Gr B pipe and analyze the acceptance criteria of the welding results on the API 5L Gr B pipe. In this study, the API 5L Gr B pipe has OD (Outside Diameter) = 168.3 mm using V (single grove) efficacy which is welded using electrode variations E 6010 and E 7010 in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) welding. Heat input can produce defects caused by large usage errors of current, too high welding speed. Based on the results of radiographic tests, different defect results were obtained, namely in, Joint M62 = 14 mm, M102 = 7 mm, M116 = 7 mm, M100 = 23 mm, M118 = 6 mm with varying currents and voltages. For acceptance criteria analysis based on API 1104 standards with incomplete fusion defects, it is said to pass the test because the defects do not exceed 25 mm. While based on ASME Sec. IX on defects incomplete fusion is not allowed (not permitted).
