Abstract :
Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) is a state university located in Balikpapan
City, East Kalimantan Province. The ITK campus only stores or piles up waste from
all buildings into one waste collection site without any sorting between organic and
inorganic waste. The aim of this research is to analyze operational techniques for
waste management and analyze the generation and composition of waste on the ITK
campus. Then the TPS design planning was carried out in accordance with SNI 19-
2454-2002 and Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 03 of 2013. The waste
generation on the ITK campus was 0.0174 kg/person/day, the waste volume was
3.32 m3 and the waste density was 169 kg/ m3. Composition of organic waste 1.3%,
paper 75.7%, wood 0.3%, cloth 0.0%, rubber 0.0%, plastic 22.2%, metal 0.5%,
glass 0.0%, and others 0.1%. The planned TPS has a volume of 5.4 m3 with a roofed
building.
