Abstract :
Pada saat ini dunia sedang dilanda krisis energi, termasuk Indonesia. Pemanfaatan energi alternatif merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Salah satu energi alternatif yang memiliki potensi besar untuk menggantikan bahan bakar minyak adalah angin.Tugas akhir ini dilakukan penelitian turbin angin sumbu vertical savonius. Tujuan tugas akhir ini untuk mengetahui karakteristik aliran dan gaya yang dapat dihasilkan oleh kincir angin savonius dengan memvariasikan overlap ratio 0,1; 0,15; 0,2; 0,25. Pengujian dilakukan melalui pemodelan numerik dengan menggunakan software fluent 6.3.26 secara dua dimensi. Karakteristik aliran dinyatakan dalam distribusi kecepatan dan grafik disribusi tekanan disekitar sudu untuk mengetahui pengaruh overlap ratio terhadap optimasi savonius. Dari hasil pengujian terlihat overlap ratio mempengaruhi distribusi kecepatan dan distribusi tekanan pada daerah sekitar sudu savonius. Pengaruh pada hasil simulasiter sebut menyatakan bahwa semakin besar overlap ratio besar.Savonius dengan Overlap ratio 0,2 memiliki performa yang paling baik, yakni dengan Daya maksimal 65,35 Watt dan Torsi awal1,17 Nm. ===================================================================================================== Nowdays, the crisis of energy happens around the world. It also happens in Indonesia. Utilization of alternative energy is the one way to overcome it. One of the alternative energy has great potential energy to replace the fossil fuels is wind energy. In this final project research of savonius vertical axis wind turbine. The purpose of this final project to determine the flow characteristics and the force that can be produced by savonius with varying the overlap ratio 0.1; 0.15; 0.2; 0.25. The test conducted through numerical modelling by using software fluent 6.3.26 in two dimensions. The flow characteristic expressed in velocity distribution and pressure distribution around the blade in order to know the influence of overlap ratio to savonius performance. The results show that overlap ratio effects the velocity distribution and pressure distribution in around the savonius blade. The influences of simulation result are the greater of overlap ratio than the velocity and pressure distribution from the top blade to bottom blade getting bigger. Savonius with overlap ratio 0.2 has a great performances are maximum power 65.35 Watt and initial torsion 1.17 Nm.
