Abstract :
This abstract reviews the development of the popularity of mountain climbing in Indonesia since 1964, especially focusing on Mount Slamet in Central Java. Even though interest in climbing is increasing, there are still many climbers who are not familiar with the basic procedures and information regarding this mountain. The hiking route via Bambangan is the main choice, but faces challenges such as a lack of direction markers, inadequate posts and simple information maps. Incidents of getting lost and even the death of climbers show the importance of better infrastructure and information in supporting climber safety. This research proposes designing an Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) to improve infrastructure, knowledge and comfort for climbers on the Mount Slamet climbing route. This EGD will include a system of signs, directions and map information, which is expected to make navigation easier and reduce the risk of getting lost while climbing.
