Abstract :
The objective of this study is to analyze grammatical cohesion devices on descriptive texts written by students fourth semester of the English Education Study Program of Peradaban University in the academic year 2019/2020, who were taking Writing 3 course. There are 13 descriptive texts. The data were collected through documentation. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method. The technique of analysis involved categorization, coding the text, and tabulation in counting the data by Anas Sudijono?s formula. Furthermore, the study result showed that students? ability in building grammatical cohesion there are 317 instances from the total of occurrences in 13 of the students? descriptive text. The students build Reference 158 or 49, 84%, Substitution 5 or 1, 57% and Conjunction 154 or 48, 58%. It means that the students have good competence in producing grammatical cohesion at their writing texs.
