Abstract :
The high number of UMKM in Indonesia has an impact on the high number of loan applications to banking institutions by UMKM. The increase in lending to the UMKM sector does not rule out the possibility of an increase in risks that must be experienced by banks, such as the occurrence of bad loans. So that before creditors provide credit to prospective debtors, they must be more careful in assessing prospective debtors through the principles known as the 5C principle, namely Character, Capacity, Collateral, Capital and Condition of Economy. The purpose of this paper is to find out how the application of the 5C principle in making credit decisions to UMKM at PT. Regional Development Bank Bali Badung Branch and what efforts are made if problems arise in the application of 5C principles in decision making. The data processing method used is descriptive method with a quantitative approach, and the data collection method is interviews. At PT. Bali Regional Development Bank Badung Branch in making credit decisions, the principle that is most prioritized is the principle of collateral . With this principle, the bank will have a handle that will later be auctioned if at any time the debtor cannot pay his obligations every month or has bad credit.
