Abstract :
Literature commonly related to something in the written form such as books or
script that contains imaginative work. However, there is another variety of literary
works in a new form of technology is emerged in the late nineteenth century is
known as movie. Movie is also recognized as a unique and powerful art form on a
part with painting, sculpture, music, literature and drama. In this analysis, the writer
is focusing in describing the ambition from the major antagonist character
(Archibald Snatcher) that exist in the movie of The Boxtrolls. Further, in order to
describe the ambition of the character, this research is conducted through
descriptive qualitative method and applying the theory of Freud. As the result of
this research, the writer finds out that the id of Snatcher is clearly noticed from the
beginning of the movie where he points out the White Hat that is wore by Portley-
Rind, while in the ego part, it is shown that Snatcher do whatever it takes to attain
white hat so that he can be known as nobleman among society. Finally, the superego
of Snatcher shows that he neither feels guilty nor regret for everything that his done
to achieve white hat, including endanger other people’s life and make Portley-
Rind’s daughter as hostage.
