Abstract :
In this thesis, the writer discusses about the difference consonants between two countries; Vietnam and America when the speakers speak using English. The main purpose of this research is to comparing those two countries when using English by seeing the consonants from each language, figuring the sound type, correspondence and consonants transformation in English. To overcome the problem structurally, the writer arranged the theoretical framework by discussing about theory and approach. The theories and approach that the writer applied are suprasegmental features, sound changes, and correspondences to disclose the comparison to the accents. Moreover, this analysis applied qualitative method, interview, comparing, and use some instruments such as a spoken language in a transcription form, facebook messenger, whatsapp and audio recording to depict clearly about the problem. The result of this analysis shows that consonants sounds are often correspondence to other sounds and sometimes it not is followed by vowel sounds. The first is the number of the consonants in Vietnamese is not the same with English Consonants. Second is due to the existence of both consonants. The next is mispronunciation construction pattern. The last is the new pattern that cause by changing in sound and also its correspondence to other sounds.
