Abstract :
This study aimed at finding out phonological processes in English language learning of Indonesian children as their second language. It was done qualitatively and involved two fourth grade of elementary school children as the subjects. To collect the data, single-word articulation approach and video recording were employed. The findings reveal that the two children performed all phonological processes namely, substitution, assimilation and syllable structure process. In substitution process, the children performed five processes: stopping, fronting, gliding, vocalization and vowel neutralization. In assimilation process, they only performed voicing process. Moreover, in syllable structure process, the children performed a processnamely deletion of final consonant. To conclude, out of twelve, there are seven phonological processes in total performed by the children that indicated their simplification process in producing English words during theEnglish learning. In addition, the study also found a phonological process namely devoicing which does not belong to the theory applied.
