Abstract :
Psychosocial is a term that is coming from the words psychological (mind) and
social (relationships). Erikson believes that human needs to face eight stages of
psychosocial development and experience a psychosocial crisis which could have a
positive or negative outcome for personality development. In this analysis, the
writer is focusing in describing the psychosocial crisis from the main character
Tarzan from the movie of Tarzan 2. Further, in order to describe the psychosocial
crisis of the character, this research is conducted by descriptive qualitative method
and applying the theory of Erikson. As the result of this research, the writer finds
out that regarding to the psychosocial theory of Erikson, Tarzan is experiencing
three stages in the story, they are initiative vs guilt, industry vs inferiority and lastly,
ego identity vs role confusion (identity crisis). Here, the problem of psychosocial
crisis of Tarzan appears when he failed to understand about himself since he is not
really alike with other animals in jungle. However, after Tarzan helped by Zugor,
he is able to overcome his problem by accepting his nature and himself (as Tarzan).
