Abstract :
This study aims to explain Jane Austen’s view on the Industrial Revolution in Pride and Prejudice. The author’s view is the way they extend their thought based on their personal view over something. This study analyzes novel written by Jane Austen entitled Pride and Prejudice. This novel was written in 1813 where the setting of the story was during the Industrial Revolution era and Jane Austen describes the phenomena through the story of Pride and Prejudice. In this study, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method and Lucien Godmann’s theory of genetic structuralism to analyze the author’s view collaborated with dialectic method. From the collected data, the result this study shows that there are four aspects as the view of Jane Austen toward the society during Industrial Revolution: (1) The Use of Gentry During Industrial Revolution, (2) Inheritance System, (3) Marriage, and (4) The Industrial Revolution Impacts to the Occupation.
