Abstract :
This research is aim to describe the psychological issue within Tiffany character specifically about Borderline personality disorder, using psychological approach and the theory of borderline personality disorder. The writer applies descriptive qualitative method and typically library research. The method helps the writer to describe about borderline personality disorder which is reflected in Quick’s The Silver Lining Playbook and explain the symptoms and characteristic of people suffer borderline personality disorder described through Tiffany in Quick’s The Silver Lining Playbook. Meanwhile, the data are taken from The Silver Lining Playbook novel in the form of word, sentence, and dialogue which are indicates describe the behavior of people suffers borderline personality disorder. In addition, the writer gain the data by collecting them from the The Silver Lining Playbook novel about the symptoms and characteristic and also the cause of people suffers borderline personality disorder through analyzing Tiffany’s character. The analysis covers two points of discussions. Firstly, the discussion about the description of borderline personality disorder, includes the characteristic and the symptoms. For example, the characteristics are the problem with identity, self direction, empathy, and intimacy. The symptoms are emotional lability, anxiousness, separation insecurity, depressivity, impulsivity. Lastly, about the cause of borderline personality disorder reflected through Tiffany’s character.
