Abstract :
In learning English, both beginners and advanced learners sometimes still having
difficulties in pronouncing some words in sentences. In that case, the writer
noticed that the mispronunciation still happens since for some countries, such
Indonesia, English acts more like a foreign language than a second language for
the users, there is no reason for the society to learn English more than just as a
study. Thus, related to that phenomenon, the writer in this research is interested in
analyzing consonant pronunciation errors made by the sixth semester students in
Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. In order to do the analysis, the writer applied
descriptive method and proposed Yule’s theory (2006). As the result of this
research, the writer found that there are 12 kinds of mispronunciation done by the
subjects related to the consonant sound, they are; Labiodental Fricatives [v] (4
data), Labiodental Fricatives [f] (3 data), Dental Fricatives [ð] (3 data), Dental
Fricatives [θ] (7 data), Palatal Affricatives [tʃ] (2 data), Palatal Affricatives [ʤ] (2
data), Palatal Fricatives [∫] (2 data), Velar Stops [k] (1 datum), Alveolar Liquids
[r] (1 datum), Alveolar Fricatives [s] (2 data), Alveolar Fricatives [z] (1 datum)
and Alveolar Stops [t] (1 datum).
