Abstract :
In delivering humorous stories, most of the stand-up comedian will express their own language style and topic. The interesting point of stand-up comedian that they can express their idea on the stage about anything, starts from certain community, race, even culture and politics mostly in the form of satire and sarcasm. In that case, this research is focusing in describing the political sarcasms found in one of the stand-up comedy performances done by Trevor Noah entitled Son of Patricia by using Critical Discourse study. Further, in doing the analysis, the writer applied descriptive qualitative method and proposed Fairclough’s theory of three- dimensional framework (2010) in order to analyze the critical discourse. As the result of this research, it shows that in the stand-up comedy performance of Trevor Noah with the theme entitled Son of Patricia, the speaker (Trevor Noah) is using Donald Trump, the president of United States as the central idea in making jokes because during his stand-up comedy performance, Noah brings the idea of political sarcasm by telling all stupid things that Trump’s said and done during his campaign and presidency. In addition, Trevor is telling another form of political sarcasm that was happened in South Africa namely Apartheid since for him personally, it was “the best” racism in the world.
