Abstract :
Media has an important role in directing the public perception toward certain issues. The news article which produced by media indirectly shaped public perception in perceiving certain issues. The aim of this study was to look at the representation of Muslim in the U.S newspapers media in order to see how Muslim was represented in the discourse. A descriptive qualitative method was used in this research while the data were collected through library research and analyzed using Fairclough?s three-dimensional model. In addition, corpus linguistic tool was used in processing the data which consists of 30 news articles. The findings show that Muslim was represented as the object of discrimination in the discourse because of the influence of certain events in the society such as terrorist attack. The results of this study are expected to give knowledge to the readers on how media represent certain issues in the discourse.
