Abstract :
Character education has become an important issue in the world of education
lately, this is related to the phenomenon of moral decadence that occurs in the
midst of society and in the government environment which is increasing and
diverse. Character must be instilled from an early age because it is very important
for later life. in character building is also inseparable from the role of the teacher,
because something the teacher does is able to affect the character of the students.
The character of students is formed based on three kinds of interrelated parts such
as moral knowledge, moral feelings and moral behavior. Therefore character
education is not only done at home, but also very important to be done at school.
So that in carrying out character education there needs to be cooperation between
parents and schools.
The purpose of the study was to describe and determine the values of character
education through BKC karate extracurricular activities at SMAN 1 Terbanggi
Besar. In this study, this study uses quantitative descriptive data analysis
techniques using survey techniques, namely using closed questionnaires with a
sample technique of 20 students. The subjects used were students of SMAN 1
Terbanggi Besar. The data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and
questionnaires/questionnaires (open and closed) and data analysis in this study
uses data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions.
The results of the research on the factors of character education values (discipline
values, honesty, responsibility and creativity) have been embedded in BKC karate
extracurricular activities. The achievement of character education values for
students in BKC karate extracurricular is included in the category: the highest
Discipline value is in the "medium" category with a percentage of 40%, which is 8
students. The results of the research on the highest honesty factor are in the "High"
category with the percentage of 50% is 10, the highest preliminary responsibility
factor is in the "high" category with a percentage of 35%, namely 7 students, the
highest creative factor is in the high and medium category with a percentage of
30% as many as 6 students from 20 student.
