Abstract :
ABSTRACT The Symptoms of Anorexia Disorder as Seen on Movie to The Bone (2017) Rahmat Hidayah 17111066 Film has played the part of a brand for a work of literature. Because it contains various elements: audio, visual, and symbol, the film is extremely valuable to explore. The object material of this study is film To the Bone (2017). To the Bone (2017) is a film that depicted the story about a young woman named Ellen who struggles with anorexia. How does the movie represent the symptoms of anorexia nervosa disorder see through semiotic by Christian Metz to help the analysis, the primary data taken from To the Bone (2017). Base on the analysis that have done, the writer found the main caused which influence the main character suffered from anorexia was social factors in anorexia sufferers seem to tend to come from overprotective families or families that are not harmonious where there are a lot of conflict and inconsistency, due to her parent divorced Ellen as the main character get distress therefore, she needs to be able to control something, which is her weight. Because of control weight with extreme ways, it appears other symptoms such as shown in film which are; dry skin, feeling cold and weak, refusal to eat, vomiting the food, extreme weight loss, lying about hiding food, engaging in food rituals, excessive exercise, purging for weight, loss of menstruation or less frequent periods, lanugo (downy hair on the body)
