Abstract :
Analyzing post traumatic and stress disorder through visualized story which is movie that requires detail attention both psychologically and cinematically. In this study, the writer conducts further discussion on PTSD in the movie entitled The Hate U Give directed by George Tillman in 2018, as the additional information this movie is adopted from novel written by Angie Thomas. The objectives of this study are to reveal the symptoms of PTSD in Starr?s character in The Hate U Give movie directed by George Tillman 2018. This study is using library research with descriptive qualitative method. This study used PTSD theory by Davidson (2006) and cinematic theory by Golden (2007). At the end of this study, the writer finds that Starr?s character has the symptoms of PTSD based on Davidson in Yasin (2016) such as re-experiencing symptoms, avoidance symptoms, and arousal symptoms. All of the PTSD symptoms are represented through cinematic technique based on Golden (2006) such as framing technique, camera angles and movement, editing, and mis-en¬scene.
