Abstract :
ABSTRACT An Analysis of Figurative Language and Imagery in Alberto Rios?s Coffee in the Afternoon Miceleh Claudia 17111029 Poem is kind of language that says more intensely than the ordinary language since it used different type of language which are imagery and figurative language. L. Perrine (1969) Therefore, the aim of this study will used stylistic approach and focus on the aesthetic effect of the poems by Antonio Rios that certainly used figurative language. In this study used descriptive qualitative method since the type of the research in this study is a textual analysis which intended to analyze the figurative language and imagery inside Alberto Rios?s selected poem. The result of the figurative language in Alberto Rios?s Coffee in the Afternoon are 12 types from 5 catogories of them. They are simile, metaphor, repitition, symbol, and personification. Out of 6 categories of imagery, the researcher found 3 categories of imagery inside Alberto?s poem which are kinesthetic imagery, auditory imagery and visual imagery.
