Abstract :
In this thesis, the writer discusses one of the most important aspects about Carter?s life. Obsessive Love Disorder (OLD) is a neurotic disorder, it is relatively one of common anxiety disorders which characterized by obsession and compulsions by intrusive thoughts that produce fear or worry, repetitive, uneasiness, apprehension, undesirable, and disturbing thoughts in the form of memory experiences, images, or urges. Thus, this study aims to find out the causes of OLD on the main character and also to find out how OLD characteristics portrayed on the main character in the movie. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to depict clearly about the problem by using library research whose the primary data source or the original work is The Perfect Guy movie, which is in the form of image, text, spesifically narration and scripts or dialogues. This study uses a literary psychology approach and applied OLD theory. The result of this study shows that Carter Duncan suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, specifically with the type of Obsessive Love Disorder indicated by the five characteristics; stalking, coercion, over jealousy, resentment, and murder. Obsessive characteristics also create the effect of violence, being manipulative and impulsive.
