Abstract :
ABSTRACT Eleventh-Grade Students? Perceptions of Task-Based Language Teaching at SMKN 8 Bandarlampung Septivana Gultom 18113013 Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) is a language teaching method that focuses on providing tiered assignments that are tailored to the abilities of students. The task-based language teaching method has three processes, namely pre-assignment, temporary assignment, and post-assignment. Researcher use students' perceptions in the use of task-based methods to get the results that the researcher wants. This research aimed to 1) find out the perception of students of SMKN 8 Bandarlampung on task-based language learning methods and 2) find out how the implementation of task-based language learning methods applied to students of SMKN 8 Bandar Lampung. The approach of this study was qualitative. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews to collect the data. The participants of the study were 37 students of XI MPLB 1 (Manajemen Perkantoran & Layanan Bisnis). The research findings reveal the application of task-based methods in teaching English and students' perceptions of task-based methods in teaching and learning English. Results of questionnaires and interviews showed that most students had a positive perception of task-based language teaching. Students say task-based language teaching helps them to improve their English skills. This proves that task-based language teaching is a suitable teaching strategy to be used in English classes.
