Abstract :
This thesis discusses teachers? competence in utilizing digital media in language teaching and also its obstacles. This research aims to determine teachers? competence in utilizing digital media and to identify the obstacles faced by the teachers at SMAN 1 Adiluwih, with the subject being two English teachers in this school. It uses a qualitative method with the research design is a case study. The instrument used for this research is a questionnaire and an interview. Moreover, the researcher found that teachers have some competencies, including (1) competence in using digital media, and (2) competence regarding the policies or rules in using digital media. Teachers have tried to use digital media to assist them in the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, in the implementation of digital media in the teaching and learning process, there are still problems encountered, namely; (1) the Wi-Fi is often error, (2) students do not have internet quota, (3) students do not have their gadget, (4) teachers? limitation in utilizing certain digital media, (5) teachers feel that it is hard to get in touch with their students to collect students? assignment. Based on the result, it can be concluded that students have an important role in the successful teaching and learning process
