Abstract :
Diadema setosum is an important biota for coral reef community. Knowledge of density and distribution pattern Diadema setosum in Bangka Island is still very little, so it needs a research about density and distribution pattern, especially in Karang Kucek, Tanjung Labu village. The purpose this research is calculate the density of Diadema setosum, distribution pattern and analyze interaction of Diadema setosum, life coral and algae. The research locations has 4 stations resperenting existence of Diadema setosum, coral reef and algae. The method calculation of Diadema setosum density used belt transect along 6 x 10m2 with intervals 10m. Pencentage coral cover calculation used Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method. The results of the environmental parameters showed normal conditions and still support for life of Diadema setosum. The research result showed that density of Diadema setosum in station 1 were found 0.33 ind/m2, station 2 has 0.2 ind/m2, station 3 has 0.25 ind/m2 and station 4 has 0.37 ind/m2. Index calculation of Diadema setosum all of station showed that Id>1 is clumped category. Analyze interaction of life coral with Diadema setosum showed weak positive correlation, algae with Diadema setosum showed very weak negative correlation and life coral with algae showed medium negative correlation. Life coral cover percentage at station 1 is 75.36%, station 2 is 53.33%, station 3 is 69.38% and station 4 is 76.43%.
