Abstract :
The aim of this research is to know the students? vocabulary mastery that were taught by using Frayer Model, to know the students? vocabulary mastery that were taught by using conventional strategy and to find out whether there was significant effect on the students? vocabulary mastery at eighth grade students? of SMP IT Al Ihya Tanjung Gading in 2017/2018 academic year. The research methodology of this research was a quantitative research, which conducted the experimental and control class. The population of the research was eighth grade students of SMP IT Al Ihya Tanjung Gading, the number of students were 87 students consist of three classes. The experimental class (VIII B) was 26 students and control class (VIII C) was 26 students as sample with total were 52 students. The researcher gave multiple choice to collect the data. There were two test; pre-test and post-test. The formula that used to analyze the data was t-test. The researcher found that the mean of pre-test in experimental class was 70.15 and control class was 35.85. Mean of post-test in experimental class was 87.88 and control class was 64.46. It was found that tobservation was 7.169, whereas the ttable was 2.009 for ?= 0.05with the degree of freedom (df) 50. the tobservation was higher than ttable (7.169>2.009), so null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there was significant effect of usingFrayer Model on the students? vocabulary mastery.
