Abstract :
This study is entitled Cultural Hegemony in the Communication of the Karo Community, Desa Kinayan, Karo District The purpose of this research is to study the form of Cultural Hegemony in the Communication of the Karo Community, the village of Guru Kinayan, Karo Regency. The theory used in this study is Intercultural Communication, Antonio Gramsci's Hegemony Theory, Shock culture (Geger Budaya). The research data was obtained through a Qualitative Research Method, with the technique of collecting field direct interview data with a total of 7 informants. Cultural hegemony in the Karo community communication, where in the process of communication with people of different cultures, in terms of the welfare of the people of Karo the principle is good times, but if betrayed there will arise a character of revenge. Culture in karo society is a very important tradition, to find out the flow of kinship in the family, as well as to find out one's position in karo culture. The communication process in the village of Guru Kinayan towards other cultures with good hegemony was established, in the involvement of fellow karo people they used karo language, if there were guests from outside the culture the karo community welcomed him with courtesy, hospitality, and welcomed the guest.
