Abstract :
Cinderella complex is a fear of independence experienced by women which makes her feel helpless so that she cannot use her abilities and potential to the fullest and there is a desire to always be cared for and protected by others. In the family, it is the parents who play a role in educating, guiding, disciplining, and protecting the child in the process reach maturity. There are three types of parenting, namely: authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive. The three parenting styles have their own characteristics and have different effects on children's behavior and have a direct impact on children's development in various aspects, one of which is independence. This study aims to examine the relationship between perceptions of parentingand the styles cinderella complex among female students of the Islamic University of Riau. Sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. The data collection technique used a research scale in the form of a questionnaire for parenting as many as 28 items and cinderella complex totaling 32 items distributed to 386 female students of the Islamic University of Riau. Based on the results of the analysis with thecorrelation technique, it is Spearman rho known that there is a relationship between perceptions of parentingwith stylescinderella complex in students of the Islamic University of Riau, whereparenting has a authoritarian correlation of 46.2 with the cinderella complex, parenting authoritative has a correlation of 26.1, andparenting permissive has a correlation of 24.5 with the cinderella complex, andparenting has a authoritarian greater contribution to the cinderella complex than the other two parenting styles, namely 22.7%.
