Abstract :
Purchases are made continuously without regard to the interests of the goods purchased, and only concerned with the lifestyle and brand of the goods, this phenomenon is known as compulsive buying. Compulsive buying is one of the predictors of debt behavior, where the individual does not care about his financial situation will do various ways in order to have the goods he wants, one of the methods used is by way of debt to any party. This study aims to determine the relationship of compulsive buying with debt behavior in the State Civil Apparatus. The population in this study were 550 ASNs with a sample of 220. The study used a scale of debt behavior and a scale of compulsive buying. The sampling technique is accidental sampling. Data analysis method used is the Pearson product moment correlation method. Statistical analysis showed a correlation of 0.748 with a significance value of 0.000 (? <0.05). That is, the higher the compulsive buying, the higher the debt behavior and vice versa the lower the compulsive buying, the lower the debt behavior. The compulsive buying variable contributes effectively to 56% of the debt behavior.
