Abstract :
This research was conducted at the Department of Environment and Hygiene, Indragiri Hilir Regency, regarding the role of the Department of Environment and Hygiene in optimizing environmental pollution in the coastal ditch area of Indragiri Hilir Regency. The background of the problem in this study is the large pile of garbage along the ditch/river that comes from various community activities and industrial activities that cause environmental pollution. This research was conducted using descriptive research methods with a qualitative research approach. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the Department of Environment and Hygiene in optimizing environmental pollution in the coastal area of the trench, Indragiri Hilir Regency and to find out the obstacles to the role of the Department of Environment and Hygiene in optimizing environmental pollution in the coastal area of the trench, Indragiri Hilir Regency. Data collection techniques from this study were observations, interviews, and documentation, five informants. The results of this study can be concluded that the role of the Department of Environment and Hygiene in overcoming environmental pollution in Indragiri Hilir Regency with indicators 1) Guidance, 2) Control, 3) Supervision, 4) Evaluation, after research, the four indicators are still not fully implemented. The inhibiting factors are budget constraints, inefficient time, and limited human resources.
