Abstract :
This study examines the role of the village government in the management of the village library in Sialang Kayu Batu village, Bunut district, Pelalawan district. The village government has a very influential role in efforts to increase reading interest in rural communities. Based on the regulation of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2017 concerning National Standards for Village / Village Libraries covering: planning, implementation, supervision, reporting, budgeting and implementation. This study aims to determine how the role of the village government in the management of village libraries and how to implement the National Standards for village libraries. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method that aims to dig deeper into the facts about the role of the village government in managing village libraries in the village of Sialang Kayu Batu, Bunut District, Pelalawan Regency. The Sialang Kayu Batu village library has been established since 2017 and implements a national library regulation concerning National Standards for village / kelurahan libraries in accordance with the Decree of the Village Head of Sialang Kayu Batu No. 141 / SK-PD / SKB / 2020/14. The role of government is as a motivator by being a driving force and encouragement or fostering motivation to increase people's interest in reading. As for the role of the village government as a facilitator, the village government has provided good facilities. As for the role of the village government as a mobilizer, the village government fully supports the interests of the library. The application of the National Standard for Village Libraries is measured in 5 stages, namely: Planning is good enough in managing the village library. Implementation is in accordance with the regulations of the Head of the Village / Village Library. Supervisors are good enough by always paying attention to the condition of the library directly. Reporting is done well to the village government through library administrators / managers. Village library implementation budget is sourced from village funds for facilities and infrastructure needs and village library collection materials are sufficiently maximal.
