Abstract :
The role is defined as a behavior that is expected from or has been established for the government as an administrator at every level of government. To foster small industries carried out by the Department of Industry and Trade of Pekanbaru City. Problems that arise are not yet maximally coaching related to training, counseling, and internships held, judging from the community's skills about small industries which are fostered by the Department of Industry and Trade of Pekanbaru City in providing training, not all of them can be applied by small industries where small industries are seen, namely in the form of Industrial Groups and Individuals who already have business licenses recorded at the Pekanbaru Industry and Trade Office. Thus, the purpose of the study was to find out the development of Small Industries by the Department of Industry and Trade of Pekanbaru City. This type of research is a descriptive survey with the research location of the Office of Industry and Trade of Pekanbaru City. Types and sources of data used primary data and secondary data, while collecting data through the results of observations, surveys, interviews, and research questionnaires. After the data is obtained then grouped according to its type in a table, then the data is analyzed and linked to theories in the form of descriptions so that conclusions can be taken. Based on the results of the study it is known that the role of the Department of Industry and Trade of Pekanabaru City has been good with a percentage of 40.86%. This is based on the reality encountered, namely: a) the provision of guidance is good enough. b) supervision is in a fairly good category. c) time is in the good category.
