Abstract :
Forests are a gift from God Almighty, given to us, which can provide multipurpose benefits to humans that must be grateful for, managed and preserved. Forestry Police are certain officials within the scope of the central and/or regional forestry agencies who in accordance with the nature of their work organize and/or carry out forest protection efforts which by the power of law are given special police authority in the field of forestry and conservation of living natural resources and their ecosystems. in one unit of command The purpose of this study is to describe the role of the forest police in carrying out the protection of forest areas in Riau Province. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis techniques, qualitative research is a process that is more intended to understand human problems in a social context by creating and presenting a comprehensive and complex picture, reporting detailed views from informant sources, and carried out naturally without any intervention from the author, with interviews and observations as a data collection tool, with the results of the study the conclusion was that the role of the Forestry Police in carrying out the protection and security of forest areas in Riau Province, was considered not good because the supervision carried out was not optimal so that There is still illegal logging and the BKSDA is considered less responsive to the results of public complaints related to Forest Protection
