Abstract :
This research purpose to find out whether there was a connection between the concept of self and
how to learn with the results of studying science based on levels of students academic ability of
Class VIII at SMPN a District of Bukit Raya Pekanbaru Academic Year 2016/2017. The research
was carried out in Mei ? July 2017. This research is quantitative research using the correlational
approach and now use questionnaire, interview and documentation. The sample in this research as
much as 294 students proportionate stratified random with different levels of academic ability.
Data analysis in this research analysis using Pearson Product Moment. The results showed that (1)
there is a low/weak relationship between concept of self (X1) and the way of learning (X2) with
the results of the study of science (Y) for high students academic, with the correlation coefficient
value (rx1x2y) of 0,373 whereas the contribution of the concept of the self and the way of learning
by means of study of 13,91%, to test the significance of t count t count (3,52) > t tabel (1,991), shows
that there is a significant relationship between the concepts of self and how to learn from studying
science results based on level of high academic students of Class VIII at SMPN a District Bukit
Raya Pekanbaru Academic Year 2016/2017, (2) there is a low/week relationship are between
concept of self (X1) and the way of learning (X2) with the results of the study of science (Y) for
medium students academic, with the correlation coefficient value (rx1x2y) of 0,377 while the
contribution of the way of learning by means of study of 14,21%, to test the significance of t count (5,08) > t tabel (1,977), shows that there is a significant relationship between the concepts of self and
how to learn from studying science results based on level of medium academic students of Class
VIII at SMPN a District Bukit Raya Pekanbaru Academic Year 2016/2017, and (3) there was a
low/week relationship between the Self Concept (X1) and Learning Ways (X2) with the results of
the study of science (Y) for low students academic, with the correlation coefficient value (rx1x2y)
was 0,256 while the contribution of self concept with learning ways were 6,55%, to the significant
test of t count (2,40) > t tabel (1,991), shows that there is a significant relationship between the
concepts of self and how to learn from studying science results based on level of low academic
students of Class VIII at SMPN a District Bukit Raya Pekanbaru Academic Year 2016/2017.
