Abstract :
This study aims to describe the perceptions of teachers and students of class VIII of SMP Negeri Sekec Kecamatan Pasir Penyu, Indragiri Hulu Regency regarding the implementation of science learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, Academic Year 2020/2021. This research is a descriptive study using a survey method. The samples in this study were 12 science teachers and 218 grade VIII students from SMP Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu, SMP Negeri 2 Pasir Penyu, SMP Negeri 3 Pasir Penyu, and SMP Negeri 4 Pasir Penyu for the academic year 2020/2021. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, interviews, observation and documentation. The questionnaire distributed was in the form of a teacher questionnaire consisting of 27 question items and a student questionnaire consisting of 30 question items with the same indicators, namely preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the teacher's perception of the implementation of science learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMP Negeri Sekec Kecamatan Pasir Penyu was very good with a percentage of 85,71% and the perceptions of grade VIII students towards the implementation of science learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at junior high school. Negeri Sekec Kecamatan Pasir Penyu is good with a percentage of 80,82%.
