Abstract :
This study aims to describe motivation in learning mathematics of grade VII students at SMPIT Bunayya Pekanbaru in the academic year 2016/2017. This research is a descriptive research. Subjects in the study this is VII grade students at SMPIT Bunayya Pekanbaru. Data collection techniques in this study carried out by questionnaire technique. The questionnaire results were analyzed quantitative descriptive to determine the level of student motivation in mathematics learning. The results showed that the level of motivation Student learning in mathematics learning at SMPIT Bunayya Pekanbaru is amounting to 62.43%. Based on this research, it can be concluded that the level of student motivation in learning mathematics at SMPIT Bunayya Pekanbaru as a whole is included in the high category. But if seen from the percentage data per student there are still some students whose learning motivation enough and there are also students whose learning motivation is low. So here the teacher must always provide motivation so students are more excited to learn.
