Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the department in the supervision of route licenses and obstacles in the supervision of route licenses in Karimun Regency, Riau Islands. The research method used is descriptive qualitative survey type method. based on theory According to Rachman in Situmorang and Juhir (1994: 22) the purpose of supervision is direct supervision, indirect supervision, preventive supervision, repressive supervision, internal supervision, external supervision. Then, in this study the problem is seen based on the role of the transportation department in the supervision of the public transport route permit, and the transportation service obstacles in the supervision of the public transportation route permit. The location of this research was conducted in the Transportation Office of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands. The informants in this study were the Head of Road Transportation Department of Transportation, Section of Transportation of People Transportation Department, Owners of Public Transportation Companies, Oplet Drivers. Data collection techniques, namely Observation, Documentation, Interview. The results of this study are the role of the Department of Transportation in the supervision of route permits in Karimun Islands, Riau Islands quite optimal because there are still limitations on the feasibility test tool and violations committed by public transportation, The obstacles in the Role of the Transportation Office of Karimun Regency, Riau Islands are the limitations of the feasibility test equipment, the lack of action from the transportation department, and the lack of awareness on the part of the driver that the importance of completeness of the feasibility of public transport vehicles to operate.
